Union4 submitted a full planning application for proposed works to enhance the existing Middle Entry shopping centre and adjoining pedestrian areas, including the formation of a new public square adjacent Tamworth Town Hall. The redevelopment scheme also includes the demolition of several retail units and their replacement with a new flexible, multi-use building providing adaptable retail floorspace for local businesses. The works are a key part of the Future High Streets Fund (‘FHSF’) Masterplan, which comprises a series of regeneration projects which will all positively contribute to the overall enhancement of Tamworth’s town centre, supporting significant investment and its future vitality and viability. The application was granted in January 2023 with works to begin in 2024.
