Covers Quarry Westerham, Kent

We have successfully secured planning permission at appeal for the stabilisation and restoration of Covers Quarry, Westerham.

The scheme will deliver:

- The restoration of a long-derelict quarry back to sustainable agricultural grassland,

- Significant landscape and ecological enhancements, including wetlands, hedgerows and woodland planting,

- A comprehensive engineering solution to resolve long-standing land stability and drainage issues, ensuring safety and sustainability for the site and surrounding area.

This was a highly complex case involving Green Belt, landscape, geotechnical and inert waste considerations, culminating in a public inquiry earlier in Summer 2025. The Inspector concluded that the proposals were appropriate development in the Green Belt, addressed critical slope stability concerns, and would provide a substantial long-term benefit to the local landscape and community.
