A planning application was submitted to West Berkshire Council for the demolition of the existing office building and construction of a new industrial/storage and distribution warehouse with ancillary office floorspace, along with car parking, landscaping and associated works. The site is located within a designated Protected Employment Area (PEA) where new employment floorspace is encouraged, and in particular uses which include industry, distribution and storage. The existing office building is largely vacant and fails to maximise use of the site. The proposals will thus allow for more flexible use of the new building, encourage new employment opportunities and better reflect the uses sought within PEAs.
