Anaerobic Digestion Facility & Biomethane Refuelling Station Swindon

We are pleased to have supported Eco Sustainable Solutions Ltd in securing approval from Wiltshire Council for the development of an Anaerobic Digestion (AD) Facility on land at Park Grounds Farm near Royal Wootton Bassett to the west of Swindon.

The project comprises an AD Facility for the generation of renewable biogas through the processing of food waste, together with a digestate storage lagoon, biomethane refuelling station, landscaping, and associated works. The project will provide a local source of renewable energy from locally sourced food waste with a capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes per annum.

The AD Facility will produce biogas that will be exported from the site to the gas distribution network, thereby providing the benefits of low carbon energy. The proposed biomethane refuelling station will help to decarbonise the fleet of waste vehicles importing waste to the facilities at Park Grounds.

The planning application received unanimous approval from Wiltshire Council’s Strategic Planning Committee.
