A Stunning New Community for Exeter
On behalf of Welbeck CP and Coplan Estates, we are over the moon to have secured a resolution to grant planning consent for 423 homes, together with commercial units and landscaped spaces, on an underused retail park in the Haven Banks area of Exeter.
The resolution is the first approval in Exeter City Councils ambitious ‘Liveable Exeter’ strategy, which seeks higher density residential development and community facilities across a number of key brownfield sites, and really sets the benchmark for the quality of future development within the city. It will also be the gateway to the wider Water Lane regeneration area, kick starting this vital redevelopment scheme.
The team successfully overcome multiple issues through the planning process, not least the sites proximity to the river and canal and associated flood risk, and the proximity to the site of many heritage assets along the waterfront.
The 4 and a half hour planning committee included intense debate and extremely detailed investigation of the many elements of the scheme, but ultimately the numerous planning benefits were clear.
